A mule deer hunter in the Clarks Fork area just a few miles south of the Wyoming-Montana state line was charged and knocked down by a grizzly bear last week.

The hunter was walking through sage brush that reached over his head and stirred up a bear that likely was sleeping nearby.

The bear ran at the man, knocked him over and then fled. The man was not seriously harmed. He did go to the hospital to be checked out.
