A 45-year-old Ellsworth man sustained a gunshot wound Wednesday morning, Nov. 27, while hunting with at least one other person.
Tad Eggenberger, 45, was struck by a stray bullet from another male in the same hunting party while firing at a deer, Pierce County Sgt. Pete Koch said in a press release. The incident happened shortly before 8 a.m. in a farm field southeast of the intersection of County Road CC and 150th Avenue in the town of Maiden Rock.
Koch said upon arrival officers found Eggenberger lying on the ground with a single gunshot wound to his lower waist area.
