TOWN OF RUTLAND, Wis. – A turkey hunter was shot by another turkey hunter in the town of Rutland in Dane County Thursday morning, according to a release from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators found Robert Ruth, 46, was turkey hunting with his 15-year-old daughter while another hunter, William H. Tepp, 50, was also turkey hunting in the same area. Each was unaware the other was there.
Tepp fired one round from his shotgun at what he thought was a turkey and struck Ruth from about 50 yards away, according to the release. Ruth was taken to a hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
