EAU CLAIRE — A Wisconsin man is facing theft charges after officials say he sold hunting rights on property he didn’t own.
The owner of the land became aware of the scam after a neighbor chased several hunters from the property. The owner later found a hunter on the land, and the hunter claimed to have leased hunting rights from a man named Andy Jacobson.
An investigation led police to 25-year-old Andrew D. Martenson of Eau Claire who was charged Monday in Eau Claire County Court with two misdemeanor counts of theft.
