Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to rescue a hunter that had become lost in the Eldorado Marsh Saturday evening. The Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a call around 7:20 pm from a man who had finished hunting in the marsh and had become disoriented and was now lost. Emergency dispatchers were able to use GPS coordinates to pinpoint the man’s location near the dead end of Hageman Road. County deputies and the Wisconsin DNR responded to the scene, made phone contact with the man again, and around 7:52 pm were able to locate him just north of the Mascoutin Valley Recreational Trail and east of the dead end at Hageman Road. The man did not have any means of navigation to assist himself out of the marsh. He was not injured.
The Sheriff’s Office says the incident serves as a reminder to always know the environment you plan to travel into and to always have proper safety, emergency and survival gear with you in the event of an emergency or survival situation.
