Two men who trespassed to hunt trophy bull elk are among the first to be prosecuted under the state’s new “hunting While Trespassing Law”. Department of Fish and Wildlife officers say the men set up a camp nine miles into a private property closed to hunting.
They were booked into The Pierce County Jail on multiple counts including trespassing while hunting, criminal trespassing, and wastage.
A search warrant was then served at the home of one of the men, where antlers, a portion of an elk, and two unlawfully possessed raptors that were found in the freezer. If convicted the men are facing up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
