KITSAP COUNTY, WA — Officers with the State Department of Fish and Wildlife believe a aggressive bear that attacked two hunters near Port Orchard is dead.

The two found and shot the bear with a bow and arrow Saturday, but then the animal went dashing back into woods. Hours later, the men found the bear not far away.

“The bear started to turn near the father and son, the father again shot it with his bow, the bear went after him, and then turned and went after the son,” Sergeant Ted Jackson with the State Department of Fish and Wildlife said.

Both men were treated for scratches and puncture wounds.
