A man who killed his younger brother in an apparent accident during an antelope hunt over the weekend was “very, very distraught” after the shooting, authorities in northern Utah said Tuesday.
The brothers hunting together in Rich County at the time of the shooting on Saturday. The names of the 49-year-old victim and his brother, who’s about 60, are expected to be released soon.
Rich County Sheriff Dale Stacey said the hunters had followed an antelope up a knoll when the younger one sat or kneeled about 12 feet in front of his older brother. Stacey said the older brother apparently didn’t see his sibling when he shot from a scope rifle and struck the man in the head. The younger man died at the scene.
