A Texas man who killed a moose but left much of the meat to rot has been fined $2,000.

Donald Lamont of Springtown entered a guilty plea Wednesday in Aniak District Court to charges of failure to salvage all edible meat and transport of moose antlers from a kill site before all meat had been salvaged.

He forfeited the antlers and faces two years of probation. Lamont was fined $4,500 with $2,500 suspended.
