Eagle Lake teen injured in hunt

Colorado County Sheriff’s deputies and a local game warden responded to a hunting accident near Eagle Lake on Sunday, Nov. 28, which injured a young man.
According to the Sheriff’s Department reports, Deputy Justin Lindemann responded at 7:30 a.m. to Rice Medical Center regarding a hunting accident on Meitzen Lake Road. Lindemann found that Logan Meitzen, 19, of Eagle Lake, had been hit with shotgun pellets in the face in the area around his forehead and eyes. Meitzen had been hunting with two friends and was in the process of retrieving downed ducks in the water when the pellets apparently ricocheted and hit his face.
Meitzen was taken to RMC and then flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he is reported to be in good condition Monday.
Game Warden John Kohleffel also responded to the scene and Texas Parks and Wildlife will be filing a report on the accident. .
