PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) An Illinois man was wounded yesterday in what authorities believe was a hunting accident near Pierre.

Three men were waterfowl hunting Tuesday morning and one of the three was hurt when he was hit by a shotgun blast.

The men are 69-year-old Anthony Padavano of Wheeling, Illinois and his son, 45-year-old Anthony Padavano III-from Prospect Heights, Illinois. Joining them was a friend from Huron, 71-year-old Niel Hansen.

The trio was on a peninsula of land upstream from the Farm Island Boat Ramp when shots were fired at passing ducks-and the younger Padavano was hurt.
All of the men carried 12 gauge shotguns.

The hunter received pellet wounds to his right hand and some pellets struck the right side of his head.
