An 18-year-old shot himself in the calf with a rifle during a hunting accident in Blair County on Wednesday.
He was hunting groundhogs on his family farm in Antis Township.
He was walking with a loaded .22 caliber rifle with the gun’s safety switch in the fire mode. The teen somehow lost his balance and gripped the rifle’s trigger during his fall, which caused the weapon to fire one round, state police said.
The gunshot went through his left calf.
