A North York man has been charged with illegally shooting three deer, removing them from the Disease Management Area, then driving an ATV too close to an elementary school, according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Michael J. Moffitt, 28, was charged with persons not to possess a firearm, unlawful killing or taking of big game, criminal trespass, possession of a weapon on school property, safety zones, unlawful acts concerning licenses, tagging and reporting big game kills and unlawful taking or possession of game or wildlife.
He was committed to York County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
Wildlife Conservation Officer Shawn Musser said “He basically broke every rule known to man.”
Incidents during season so far:
Jerry Feaser, spokesman for the Pennsylvania State Game Commission, said Thursday that since hunting season began, there has been one “in the line of fire” incident and two accidental discharges in the state.
In addition, Thursday morning, Northern York County Regional Police were called to Jug and Canal roads in Conewago Township for a report of someone firing a gun from a tree stand while other people were standing nearby.
