A 76-year-old hunter died Friday after falling from a tree stand in Berks County, Pennsylvania State Police report.

Jan Spirat was using the tree stand on his own property along Scout Road in Albany Township. The stand sits about 35 feet off the ground, state police said.

At about 3:17 p.m., a neighbor found Spirat lying face down and unresponsive at the base of the tree.

Spirat died from blunt force trauma suffered in the fall, according to the Berks County coroner.
