A Portland woman suffered an apparently accidental gunshot wound to the head inflicted by her husband in Wamic Sept. 20 .

The couple, both in their 60s, had been hunting and camping in the forest lands of Wasco County.

The gun was in the couple’s vehicle as they were getting ready to go hunting, said Wasco County District Attorney Eric Nisley. They had put a backpack on top of the gun.

“He reached to retrieve the back pack… and the gun somehow discharged,” Nisley said.
