Three American men have been fined in a Thunder Bay court for unlawfully trapping in Ontario.

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, a conservation officer on patrol on Feb.10 discovered numerous traps and snares set along a portage trail between Moose Lake and North Fowl Lake near the international border southwest of Thunder Bay.

An investigation conducted with the assistance of a Minnesota conservation officer revealed that the traps had been set by Minnesota residents, none of whom was licensed to trap fur-bearing animals in Ontario.
