MOUNT VERNON — Two Butler area men have been charged with several violations from a hunting incident on Nov. 13, near Nunda.
Michael Lyon, 47, was charged with hunting wild quadrupeds (animals with four feet) with the aid of a vehicle, jacklighting and carrying a firearm while under the influence. Cody Lyon, 21, was charged with hunting wild quadrupeds with the aid of a motor vehicle and jacklighting. A pre-trial hearing for both men will be Wednesday, in Mount Vernon Municipal Court.
The report stated the defendants admitted to hunting raccoons and were using the truck to aid in the hunt and carry them and their firearms. They also admitted to shining lights out the side of the vehicle to find the raccoons.
Michael Lyon was also charged with carrying a firearm under the influence after numerous beer cans were discovered in the bed of the truck and a field sobriety test was performed.
