A 69-year-old man has died following a tragic hunting accident in Niagara County.

The man, who has been identified as Stephen C. Harrington, fell from a tree stand and was found unresponsive at the base of his tree stand when emergency crews responded to a 911 call.

Emergency personnel attempted to Harrington life-saving treatment at the scene before he was pronounced dead.

Crews responded around 9:20 a.m. near Royalton Center Road.

According to an initial investigation, it appears the Harrington suffered a medical emergency which caused him to fall.

Niagara County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Bureau is continuing to investigate the incident.
