Hunter dies after accidental shooting

MCGRAW, NY  – The incident happened along Maybury Road in Mcgraw, around 11:00 Saturday morning.

The Department of Environmental Conservation says 54 year old Alton Carr was hunting, when shot in the chest. According to a DEC spokesperson, he was shot by his nephew, 43-year old Robert Ross.

Carr was taken by helicopter to Upstate University Hospital, where went into surgery and later died.

The DEC is still investigating, but they say it appears Ross was trying to shoot a deer, when the incident happened.

No charges have been filed.
