It was just November 24, the time of year when the ground is still muddy in spots and the foreboding sting of winter starts to appear.
As 27-year-old Joe Kuhns walked down the wet slope, he fell down that hill, 30/30 rifle in tow. As he tumbled, the safety disengaged.
Kuhns felt the searing bullet rip through his left foot, entering just beneath the ankle bone and exiting out the bottom.
