Kelly Hobbs and Shannon “Bubba” Tunnell died when their plane crashed last Friday near Raton while they were hunting coyotes. The purpose of the flight was to find and “terminate” coyotes in an area “with a history of livestock damage.”
During the flight, the pilot confirmed that he saw a coyote behind the spotter and was going to make a low-altitude pass. The spotter heard two or three shotgun blasts and soon after that heard the impact of the airplane crashing.
