Nebraska Game and Parks is investigating a hunting accident at Yankee Hill Lake about 12 miles southwest of Lincoln.
Denton resident Francisco Barbosa Almazan, 27, and his 8-year-old son were hurt while hunting doves. Both took pellets to the face from the shotgun of 23-year-old Arturo Garcia of Omaha, who was hunting in the same area. Garcia swung on a dove, shot, and struck the victims.
It happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
“One hunter shot at a dove apparently it was over a slight ridge. We believe that the pellets from his shotgun injured two individuals from the side of the ridge.”
Yankee Hill Lake is a Wildlife Management Area in Lancaster County.
