According a report published in the latest North Dakota Outdoors, the Game and Fish Department’s monthly magazine, the No. 1 violation in 2013 was hunting, fishing or trapping without a license.

Last year there were 305 citations issued for not having a license for hunting, fishing or trapping, and 304 citations issued for not carrying a license. In 2012, wardens wrote what was then a record number of fishing-without-a-license citations — 64 for residents and 130 for nonresidents.

Last year, there were 2,430 total citations issued. That includes fishing, hunting, boating, licensing and general and miscellaneous violations. That is comparable to the 1,992 citations in 2008, but is down from 2012’s total of 2,568.
