WAYNESVILLE – Chad Crisp has been sentenced to 20 months in federal prison in connection with Operation Something Bruin, a four-year undercover bear poaching investigation. Crisp pleaded guilty to eight charges relating to illegal bear and deer hunting, as well as hunting without a license.
As part of a plea agreement in which the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina dropped a dozen charges, Crisp admitted to a host of wildlife-related violations, including killing four bears in 2011.
Also, Edsel Brent Thomas was charged with deer hunting violations.
