KALISPELL – Two more men have been sentenced for illegally killing deer out of season and leaving them to waste.
Levi Anderson and Hadyn Johnson of Kalispell were both sentenced in Flathead County Justice Court recently for poaching 10 whitetail deer in the Farm-to-Market Road area north of Kalispell.
Anderson pleaded guilty and was fined $4,350, ordered to pay another $600 in restitution and lost his hunting, fishing and trapping privileges in Montana and 43 other states for 10 years.
Johnson also pleaded guilty, was fined $2,100, ordered to pay $2,100 in restitution, and lost his hunting, fishing and trapping privileges in Montana and 43 more states for 20 years.
Four Columbia Falls men were sentenced earlier this year for poaching deer in the same general area. Farm to Market Road runs north out of the Kalispell area toward Whitefish and beyond, and is west of U.S. Highway 93.
Even with the arrest and conviction of half a dozen poachers, the Farm to Market area remains a hotbed of illegal hunting activity. Last week, FWP issued a news release asking for the public’s help in identifying poachers there, and in the Kila, Somers and Marion areas.
