Eighteen-year-old Derek Bonsante was in a canoe with two others on Caraway Lake near Emily.
Ducks flew toward the group, and one of Bonsante’s hunting partners said he was going to shoot. At the same time, Bonsante stood up in front of him, and the shotgun blast grazed his head.
Bonsante was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital in Crosby.
