A 61-year-old resident of Hollywood Township in Carver County was wounded Sunday morning when he was struck by BBs/shot fired from a shotgun while duck hunting in Hollywood Township.

The Carver County Sheriff”s Office says the victim, David Hoese, and his partner were moving the hunting partner’s boat into position behind the victim’s boat in the weeds. The hunting partner sat his shotgun down to secure his boat and the gun went off.

Hoese was hit in the chest and face in his own boat approximately 10-15 feet away.

Hoese was taken to Hennepin Health Care with injuries which authorites say are not life threatening, but require eye surgery.

The incident was reported just before 8am.

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
