This month, a terrifying duck hunting accident came to a gratifying conclusion as three teenagers were hunting from a boat on fish lake when it capsized.

Officials credit their safe rescue to a 9-1-1 call that 17-year-old Bryce Tanski made while trying to keep his head above the water in Fish Lake.

Tanski and his friends were duck hunting when the boat they were in started taking on water and capsized.

Tanski was worried about losing his father’s rifle, which he borrowed for the trip.

St. Louis County Sheriff Ross Litman said three men had died in the exact same situation in Minnesota on Oct. 4, the same day the three boys were rescued.
