From Lansing State Journal

A 67-year-old Lansing man is believed to have been shot and killed Friday night while hunting deer in Clinton County, township police said in a news release.

The death remains under investigation by police and the state Department of Natural Resources.

The county’s Central Dispatch Office received a “cardiac arrest/respiratory arrest call” at about 10 p.m. Friday, the news release said.

When police and emergency responders arrived at an area of state land near the 8500 block of E. Clark Road, they found the man unresponsive. The area is approximately three miles east of the township’s downtown.

Preliminary investigation by police revealed the victim was hunting on public land while wearing orange clothing and appeared to have been shot by another person.

Police don’t have a suspect at this time; numerous individuals are being interviewed, the news release said.

An operator at central dispatch said Saturday afternoon no new information would be released that day.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Det. Bryan Miller at 517-641-6271 or central dispatch at 989- 224-6792.
