Maryland Natural Resources police were investigating a fatal hunting accident in Frederick County on Saturday, the opening day of deer season for firearms.
Vincent Cavallo, 32, accidentally discharged his rifle while deer hunting near Thurmont. Cavallo and his uncle were hunting in separate areas of the property when the uncle heard a gunshot. He went to check on his nephew and found him dead.
Police said the victim is believed to have slipped or dropped the gun and it discharged, hitting him in the head.
