RENO, NV ( Mynews4.com & KRNV) – Judge Scott Pearson found David Fulton of Reno guilty of two misdemeanor charges, both for unlawful placement of a trap. He was sentenced to pay a total of $1050. Fulton had placed two large steel traps near a public park in early January. According to Jake Kreamer, a Nevada Department of Wildlife Game Warden, the traps were set within 200 feet of a roadway which is against state statute.
Fulton says he was trying to catch a coyote that he says killed his dog.
“There is a large coyote out there that not only killed my dog but other dogs and nobody is doing anything about it,” said Fulton.
Jason and Amie Ruckman say their dog got caught in the trap and was almost killed by the snare. Jason says he had to do mouth to mouth resuscitation.
“I was having trouble getting her free. When I came back she was unconscious.” Amie and her husband say the past few months have been difficult. Since coming out with their story, Amie says people have sent them hate mail to their home.
