Two Franklin Parish men were cited on multiple hunting violations last Wednesday, according to agents with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Cody Barton, 27, and, Claude Roberts, both from Fort Necessity, were spotlighting deer on a public road, before Barton spot a spike from the vehicle around 9 p.m, agents said.

LDWF cited the men on multiple violations: Taking deer during illegal hours, which brings a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail. Hunting from a public road and discharging a firearm from a public road, which both carry a $100 to $350 fine and up to 60 days in jail. Hunting from a moving vehicle, which brings a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail.

Agents said Barton may also face civil restitution of $1,624 for the illegally taken deer.
