KY: Hunter found dead in Clay County

The Clay County coroner is investigating the death of a hunter who fell out of a tree stand.

Coroner Danny Finley said his office responded to the Johns Creek area of Clay County Wednesday night.

Finley said Daniel Chappell, 65, of Science Hill, was found near a tree from which he had been hunting.

Investigators said Chappell was an avid deer hunter.

Finley said it’s unclear if Chappell died from the fall or from a medical emergency.
