THE NATURE CONSERVANCY – CONSERVING HUNTING!

The Nature Conservancy of GA (TNC) announced they have entered into negotiations with multiple landowners to purchase an additional 5,400 acres at Chickasawhatchee Wildlife Management Area in Baker County. This is in addition to nearly 15,000 acres already owned by the state and managed by DNR, land that was also bought and held by TNC until the state could raise funds. By next fall, the WMA could be more than 20,000 acres in a contiguous block — all of it OWNED, not leased.

The Nature Conservancy has bought, or assisted [GA DNR] in buying, numerous areas now open to hunting, including Wassaw and Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuges, Ossabaw Island WMA, and portions of Altamaha WMA.
