PA HUNTER BAGS WASHER AND DRYER

(Derry-AP) Dec. 5, 2003 – A Westmoreland County man says a hunter’s bullet pierced the side of his modular home in Derry Township and hit his new clothes dryer.

Dennis Freeman says the bullet came too close for comfort — it narrowly missed the house’s 300-pound propane tank.

Freeman believes the accident happened Monday. He says he noticed the bullet hole — probably from a .30-caliber rifle — in his laundry room Monday afternoon.

Officials from the Pennsylvania Game Commission say the bullets from hunting rifles can travel as far as three miles and hunters need to keep that in mind.

Officials also say it’s rare for bullets to hit houses.
