Two Garrett men face charges after a deer was allegedly shot with the use of a spotlight in Allen County on Sunday morning.

The men, ages 35 and 45, allegedly admitted to shooting the deer with a high-powered rifle while illuminating it with a spotlight on West Road, near Shoaff Road, according to a news release from the Indiana Natural Resources Department. Both men were charged with multiple hunting violations, as well as traffic citations.

An Allen County Sheriff’s Department officer allegedly found an antlered deer in the bed of the pickup and, during a search after a conservation officer arrived, two high-powered rifles, a spotlight, and a handgun were found, according to the release.
