URBANA (AP) — A DeGraff area man facing hunting violation charges appeared in Champaign County Municipal Court earlier this week for an initial arraignment hearing.

Jordan D. Ferrell, 26, was indicted earlier this month on one count each of having weapons while under disability with a specification for forfeiture of a weapon, criminal trespass, hunting without permission, violation of hunting ordinances, wildlife violation, violation of hunting laws and tampering with evidence.

The charges stem from an alleged incident on Dec. 6, 2014, in which law enforcement responded to a hunting without permission complaint.

Mr. Ferrell admitted to shooting at a deer and said he was not sure if he was legally hunting because he failed to purchase a hunting license and deer permit.
