WATERLOO – Joshua Scott Casey, 20, pleaded to one count of felony reckless use of a firearm causing serious injury on Monday. Casey, Alex Bratten and others were coyote hunting on Acker Road on March 31, 2014, when Casey picked up a shotgun, pointed it in Bratton’s direction and told him “think fast.”
Thinking the weapon wasn’t loaded, Casey then pulled the trigger and shot Bratten in the shoulder.
The charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and sentencing will be at a later date.
