Levi Young, 25, and Kyle Munson, 25, were charged Sunday morning with shooting two swans at the Princeton Wildlife Area in Scott County, northeast of the Quad Cities.

Young and Munson allegedly shot the swans while waterfowl hunting Saturday morning, killing one and injuring the other.

They were charged with unlawful taking of a protected game species and abandoning the swans after they were shot and each face a civil penalty of 1,500 restitution for shooting the swans.

DNR law enforcement officers seized three shotguns, shotgun shells, shell casings, a boat, motor and trailer.
