IA: Herreid man fined, put on probation for federal hunting violations

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Ronald Mittleider, of Herreid, pleaded guilty to allowing hunters at his lodge to shoot more pheasants than legally allowed. He also admitted shooting and killing a hawk and an owl.

Mittleider will be on unsupervised federal probation for a year and he was fined $500 and ordered to pay the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks department $20,000 in civil damages.
