WV: Man cited for trapping raccoons who were eating bait meant to lure turkeys out of season

A man in Nicholas County was cited this week for allegedly trapping raccoons who were eating corn put out to kill turkeys out of season.

The man was charged for killing at least two turkeys and one deer out of season, according to West Virginia Natural Resources Police. He was also cited for hunting turkey over bait and illegally trapping raccoons.

Officers said the man was using some of the illegally harvested deer meat to bait traps used to catch raccoons who were eating the corn that was put out for bait in order to kill turkeys.
