Men fined for illegal hunting
Two Northeastern Wisconsin men have been fined and banned from hunting in Ontario after being convicted of illegally hunting deer at night.
According to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources:
Dennis Majewski of Goodman and Sean Meier of Green Bay were arrested more than an hour after hunting had ended on Nov. 8.
Meier parked his truck on a road north of Dryden, Ontario, and used his headlights to shine a deer in the ditch. Majewski hopped out of the truck, walked in front of it, loaded his gun and shot a buck deer decoy.
Majewski and Meier were arrested at the scene by OMNR conservation officers, then were released after being given summonses.
Majewski was fined $2,500 for hunting at night and shooting from a road and cannot hunt in Ontario for three years. Meier was fined $1,000 for hunting at night and lost his Ontario hunting privileges for a year.
