A western Wisconsin man was sentenced Thursday after pleading no contest to trapping wild raccoons and then letting them loose so his dogs could attack and kill them.

Jason Armbruster of Amery entered the plea for three counts of mistreatment of animals causing death in exchange for seven other charges being dropped.

Records show Armbruster was posting photos of the incidents on Facebook. He told DNR wardens he didn’t think it was a big deal.

Thursday, he was sentenced to three years of probation. He is also ordered not to own a firearm during that time.
