A man found his friend dead in a town of Trenton woods Friday after he failed to return from bowhunting.

Officers were dispatched at 8:38 p.m. Sept. 20 to a private residence in Trenton township, where a man had located Bruce Place, 73, Red Wing, Minn., on the ground in the woods. He had been out bowhunting and hadn’t returned when expected.

Deputies attempted life-saving measures but the Pierce County Medical Examiner declared Place deceased. Red Wing Ambulance and Ellsworth Fire also assisted at the scene.
