Brussels: Luxemburg man injured in shooting accident
A Luxemburg man was injured in a pheasant-hunting accident Sunday in the town of Brussels.
According to a Door County Sheriff’s report, Andrew Reinhard, 28, was unarmed but accompanying his friends, Jacob Barta, 24, Luxemburg, Aaron Miller, 28, Casco, and a 12-year old boy, on property owned by Miller’s father along County XC near Kolberg.
Reinhard, who had been handling the dogs, was standing in an open field opposite the fence line from the boy around 3 p.m., according to Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources conservation warden Chris Kratcha said. The fence line consisted of small brush and grass.
A group of birds flew up, and the boy fired his shotgun. Reinhard was struck in the left side of his face, neck and thigh.
One of the hunters took Reinhard to Ministry Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay, where he was treated for minor injuries and released the same day, Kratcha said.
All four people were wearing blaze orange vests during the hunt.
