Hunter Hit With Bullet Fragment In Marquette County Authorities Say Shooting Has Been Ruled Accidental

MONTELLO, Wis. — A hunter was struck by a stray bullet fragment at the Grand River Marsh public hunting grounds in Marquette County, according to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said the man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and that the department is treating the incident as an accidental shooting.

The incident is being investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials said the man was hit by the bullet fragment at about 9 a.m. on Saturday near Puckaway Road on the northwest side of the hunting area. The grounds are southeast of Montello.
