GREENVILLE — A 61-year-old Appleton man was taken to Appleton Medical Center about 5 p.m. Sunday with a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound after being accidently shot by his brother while squirrel hunting in rural Waushara County.

The shooting reportedly happened in a wooded area near Wautoma.

The victim was shot through the left thigh by a .22-rifle with the bullet lodging in his right thigh

“It is a hunting accident,” Staff Sgt. Ryan Carpenter said. “They lost track of each other and his brother ended up seeing a squirrel and didn’t see his brother behind it and ended up shooting his brother in the thigh.”
