A 44-year-old Waupun man was injured after falling 12 to 14 feet from his tree stand while deer hunting Oct. 30.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release the man was believed to have suffered only minor injuries in the incident, adding he was not wearing a tree stand safety harness at the time of the fall.
The incident was reported around 3:44 p.m. Oct. 30 when a family member called 911. The caller reported the hunter had regained consciousness on the ground with facial injuries and was believed to have fallen from his tree stand.
The family member provided a general location of a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources public hunting area on Towne Road, north of U.S. 151, in the town of Oakfield.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the hunter and an ambulance arrived shortly thereafter to assess the patient. Oakfield Fire Department then used a UTV to transport the hunter out of the DNR property to the parking area. He would later be transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
