MORGAN — Five men were found illegally hunting deer together in Morgan County, according to charges filed against one of them Monday.

Steve Garcia, 53, is charged in 2nd District Court with wanton destruction of protected wildlife, a class A misdemeanor, and taking wildlife while trespassing, a class B misdemeanor. He is also accused of illegal possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a third-degree felony.

Garcia and his cousin, who has not to date been charged in the case, allegedly told the officer that each of them had shot one of the deer on the truck. Garcia, who had a deer hunting tag that was valid in other areas, admitted to seeing signs on the restricted property warning against trespassing, his charging documents say.
