A deer hunter who accidently shot himself in the chest remained in critical condition on Monday.

Box Elder County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Potter identified the man as 53-year-old Jonathon Pettit, of Roy.

Investigators said that Pettit was getting a black powder rifle from the backseat of his truck on Sunday morning when the gun discharged, hitting him in the upper right chest.
